Vista Patagonia Lodge

Feb 2-9, 2025 | Coyhaique, Chile

The Experience

Vista Patagonia Lodge offers a solid fishing experience at a great location. The lodge is modern, rustic, and comfortable with a fun atmosphere that will make you feel at home.

The guided experience is a 7-night, 6-day fishing (Sunday to Sunday, all-inclusive) program that will allow you to sample a little of everything this country has to offer: from spring creeks in the Patagonian Steppe to tranquil lakes and larger freestone rivers in the temperate rainforest.

Airport pickup and arrival at the lodge. Welcome cocktail and dinner. We'll go over the plan for the week and get things ready for the next day and your first day of fly fishing in Patagonia, Chile!

Every morning, we choose the fishing spot according to the guide's advice based on weather conditions and guests' preferences. We fish many of the larger (and better known) rivers in the area, like the Simpson, Paloma, Ñirehuao, Mañihuales, and Emperador Guillermo, but also some other hidden gems that we keep to ourselves and our guests to enjoy. Stillwaters are part of our program as well, likely being the best place to land a monster fish! Not a fan of lake fishing? Wait until you see how our browns hunt for bugs on the surface while cruising shallow flats: a true visual delight.

Once back from your fly fishing excursion for the day, relax with an adult beverage at the lodge and enjoy a delicious, chef-prepared dinner with stunning views out of our picture windows. One evening, you will experience the flavors of our homemade pizza in our wood-fired pizza oven!

Morning fishing session or a visit to downtown Coyhaique for some souvenir shopping. Luggage pick up and drop off at the airport.

The Fishing

Brown trout dominate our Chilean waters but you can also find a fair number of rainbows, fewer Chinook, Coho, and Atlantic salmon. January and February are known for the steady dry fly action as beetles, hoppers, mayflies, and caddis hatch heavily during these months of the year.

The waterways we fish can be as close as 25 minutes away or as far as two hours, depending on the fish we are targeting and weather conditions. For those anglers not afraid of putting some work into their fishing, we can show you even more remote, pristine waters that will likely produce some truly fine fish.

It is no mystery that Coyhaique is the capital of Fly Fishing in Patagonia. Few other places in the world can boast the array of majestic waters in such close proximity. The peak season goes from October to May, with something special to offer each and every month. December through March is the dry fly prime time! January and February allow for the best weather.
