Join Me In The Capital Of
Cheese Curds & Toothy Fish
Let’s go musky fishing! I'm hosting an all-inclusive trip for 5 anglers to Treeland Resort in Hayward, WI. There will be boat rides, sore casting arms, squeaky cheese curds, and excellent opportunities to tangle with the most badass freshwater fish in North America.
The trip package includes all meals, 4 nights lodging, 3 days of guided musky fishing, and all gratuities. All you have to do is get yourself to Hayward and everything else will be taken care of. Your only responsibility will be having a good time.
The Musky
Capital Of The Universe
Hayward, Wisconsin isn’t just any fishing town—it’s the Musky Capital of the World, and the waters around here are legendary for holding massive, apex predators. To give us the best shot at tangling with these toothy river minnows, we’ve teamed up with the top-tier local pros from Musky Fool and Northwoods Flyfisher. These guys live and breathe musky, and they know exactly where the big girls hide in these waters.
The Lodge
During our trip, we’ll be kicking back at the "Big Log" cabin at Treeland Resort, an authentic, hand-hewn log cabin originally built in 1928 but fully modernized for maximum comfort. This massive five-bedroom, three-bathroom cabin gives everyone plenty of room to spread out, featuring a spacious kitchen and a large dining table perfect for sharing hearty meals, cold beers, and bad jokes. It perfectly blends the classic, rustic nostalgia of the Northwoods with modern amenities.
If you’re into fishing trips where you don’t have to change clothes for dinner and it’s ok to fall asleep on the couch, this trip has the vibe you’re looking for.
What We're After
Target Species
Musky
If this is the first time you're hearing about Musky fly fishing in Wisconsin, you've clearly been in your grandparents bomb shelter since Y2K. The Hayward area is home to some of the best Musky fishing in the nation—if not, "the best" Musky fishing in the nation.
Curds
Wisconsin is home to one of my favorite delicacies... Cheese Curds. Now you've probably had cheese curds before, but until you have them here, you don't know what you're missing. Whether fresh or fried, dipped or dry, there will be irresponsible amounts consumed.
Beer
Along with the fishing and cheese, Wisconsin is home to some of the best and oldest breweries in the nation. The resort has a restaurant and bar on site where we can unwind after the day with a cold one, or two, or three beers.
Musky Fool
Nick Gellerstedt
Midwest native and totally nuts about fly fishing, Nick Gellerstedt is one of the only guys in the country that is 100% dedicated to musky fly fishing. We are absolutely thrilled to have one of the top guides in the country working for Musky Fool and even more excited for you to get in the boat with him.
Musky Fool
Josh Berry
Josh brings a thoughtful, adaptable approach to chasing musky in northern Wisconsin. At his core, Josh is passionate about teaching, whether helping experienced anglers pursue their first musky on the fly or introducing folks to the sport, always focused on delivering an unforgettable day on the water.
Northwoods Fly Fisher
Josh Hulbert
Born and raised in Northern Wisconsin, Josh Hulbert has been fishing since the age of 12. After retiring from 20 years in the Air Force, he started guiding on the Green River in Utah. In 2021 he started Northwoods Fly Fisher and has been putting people on Musky ever since.
